The damage was done in 2020, and ironically, it may be the damage that has been done to the economy as a result of the 2020 election results that is shaking the vacuous financial structure upon which these anti free speech platforms have been depending, and allowing a state of vulnerability to set in that enables entrepreneurs like Elon to become involved and effect some shifts in philosophy. I am not sure how far this trend can go, because you are right that the execs who are determined to try to control what people can say and think will find new homes in which to attempt to exert their sinister influence. It has been about a year and a half since I deleted my Twitter account, and don't have any inclination to go back. I agree with President Trump that Truth Social is working well, and it feels like home.
